1. Aim and thrust on one stick
Left Stick aims. Push it to max and you also thrust. Prefer a dedicated thrust button? Right Bumper (RB) or hold D-pad Up both thrust without leaning on the stick.

Left Stick aims and thrusts when you push it all the way, bumpers and triggers cover fire and brake, face buttons handle weapon, shield and build, and the D-pad covers thrust, boost, ping, emotes and the aim line. Building Mode exits 1 second after the stick returns to center; movement or another build resets that timer.
How the sticks and pads work together
Fire
2. Two ways to shoot
Primary Fire is A or Right Trigger (RT). Secondary Fire is Left Trigger (LT). Switch Primary Weapon with X when you need a different gun.
Shield / Boost
3. Y or R3 for shield; L3 for boost
Shield toggles with Y or a click of the Right Stick (R3). Boost is a press of the Left Stick (L3) or a press of D-pad Up. More on those abilities on shields and boosters.
Comms
4. Ping and emote without a mic
Team Ping is D-pad Down. Emote Wheel: hold D-pad Right, pick with the Right Stick, release. Full emote details on comms.
Build, upgrade, and menus
- » Building Mode: press B. Aim the placement with the Right Stick, place with A or RT, leave with LB or B. The mode exits 1 second after the stick returns to center; moving or starting another build resets that timer.
- » Upgrade Mode (when you are over a hex): LB/RB to select, A to upgrade, B to cancel.
- » Aim Line: D-pad Left toggles the laser range guide.
- » Menu opens with the Menu button. Stick Mode (View button) switches stick direction vs manual turn.
- » On launch and respawn screens, Choose Ship / Confirm is LB/RB + A.
